Modern Odyssey | Volunteering Team
Week 5 – Fifth location: Liveloula
Mountains and forests everywhere. Fresh air and organic food. The next destination of Modern Odyssey is Liveloula! Tucked away in the hills of the Peloponnese, Liveloula is a little paradise run by Chenny and Steven, whose purpose is to step out of the stressful Western city life and root back into nature.
Aiming to have a positive impact on the environment while working in tune with nature and its needs, Chenny and Steven founded Liveloula 11 years ago, turning an abandoned piece of land into a labyrinth of permaculture gardens and food forests. Gradually and with a lot of care, the soil has been revitalized and is now thriving with thousands of trees, plants, and flowers, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and reconnect with ourselves. The surrounding landscape, with green mountains, waterfalls and rivers make the place even more magical and fairytale-like.
Chenny and Steven are used to host volunteers and friends in Liveloula and enjoy sharing their knowledge with those who are interested in permaculture and ‘alternative’ lifestyles. They frequently hold workshops and engage with the nearby villages, actively participating in cultural activities and festivals. Their mission is to let everyone experience what it feels like to live in a space like Liveloula, to escape from the go-go city life, and to reconnect with nature and simplicity.
Curious to know how our volunteers are contributing to life in Liveloula and what they are learning in this community? Keep following us on our socials and don’t forget to share our posts!
