Week 7 – Sent Off With a Rose
Our last week began, full of activities and highlights, final memories and last meals together.
It was a time to reflect on our work together, both in the community and at Makhampom, and on our growth and change. We learned Haitian dances, created a lip-sync video, and made cyanotype prints with a group of students.
The highlight of the week was the Face of Chiang Dao festival. We experienced art in many forms, from clay creations to handmade offerings. To close the day, we went to a hotpot restaurant.
At the goodbye party on Friday, we danced, laughed, and celebrated our 45-day journey.
On Sunday, we left Makhampom, sent off with a rose and our backpacks filled with memories, relationships, challenges, and learnings.
The goodbye was bittersweet. The people, the place, and the project have a special place in our hearts. We came with expectations and left with experiences. Volunteering in the Town of Stars in Northern Thailand changed us.
