Week 4 – We See Progress
This week, we worked a lot on the Women’s Center, and by the end of the week, we could clearly see the progress!
We worked with cement to cover the floor, applied concrete to the walls, started digging a hole for the toilet next to the house, worked with wire to create its base structure, and filled holes in the garden with stones and soil.
During our time at Makhampom, participants also started sharing their skills and knowledge with the group. We bound our own books, took part in a treasure hunt to discover hidden corners of Makhampom, learned about psychological first aid and supply chain management, and painted a wall with a peanut tree.
The project has become a place where we learn from each other, share without showing off, listen and feel understood, support and are supported.
This week, we reached the halfway point of Tracing Roots. Since the beginning, we have grown closer and become more familiar with each other’s habits, personalities, and ways of being. We have been vulnerable, strong, and together. Step by step, we are creating a brave and safe space for our thoughts and feelings.
