Week 1 – First Location: Yamochori
Nature, sustainability, recycling: surrounded by a stunning mountainous landscape, Yamochori is the first destination of our Modern Odyssey!
Yamochori is an eco-project started by a small group of young people in 2020. Tired of the stressful life of the Greek capital, they created a community committed to a life of sustainability and purpose. Yamochori mostly engages in permaculture techniques,natural building and natural cultivation, with the aim of reducing the ecological footprint. The sustainable development of nature, the interaction with locals, and the organization of trainings and volunteering projects are the goals and pillars of the community, guiding their decision to abandon the urban lifestyle and settle in an untouched location.
Yamochori frequently hosts and organizes various types of youth exchanges, from volunteering programs to local actions and trainings, with volunteers coming from all over the globe. The community believes that by welcoming diverse people, the place acquires a magical energy, sharing values of freedom, sustainability, and self-sufficiency.
