Week 5 – Growth
Hopeland has been part of the Modern Odyssey journey from the very beginning, and once again we entered the community eager to contribute and leave a positive mark.
Much of our work here revolves around caring for the land that sustains the community. By nurturing the soil, we support future growth and help create a healthier, more resilient environment.
Taking part in the everyday life of the Hopeland community has been one of the most meaningful aspects of this experience. We got to know the values that bring people together and were welcomed with open hearts into a way of living built around care, connection, and togetherness. Through shared meals, daily tasks, and moments of reflection, we gained a deeper understanding of what it means to live and grow as a community.
One of our main projects this week was improving the greywater system by making its connection to the kitchen more efficient and sustainable. By cleaning and replacing key components, this practical upgrade will help optimize water use and benefit the community in the long term.
Another week of learning, contributing, and growing together has come to an end.
