Week 4 – Connection
With every new place we visit, our group grows closer, more connected, and more independent. The bonds we’re building through this volunteering journey become stronger with each passing week.
This week, we contributed to improving the infrastructure of Yamochori, leaving a small but meaningful mark on the community.
The skills we’re gaining continue to grow in variety. Alongside caring for the garden and weeding, we also worked with wood and stone. Together, we helped build a bench and took part in constructing a fountain.
Seeing the direct results of our work after just a few days is incredibly rewarding. It reminds us that even small efforts can make a lasting difference.
We also had the opportunity to connect with the local community. In the village square, we played traditional childhood games with local residents, sharing moments of laughter and cultural exchange. These simple interactions helped us feel more connected to both the people and the place, reminding us that sometimes all it takes to build a connection is a game, a smile, or a shared moment of joy.
