The program follows a "Head, Hand, and Heart" learning approach and is structured into three phases:
Phase 1: Setting the Foundation (4 days)
Location: Outward Bound Youth Center
Focus: Team building, NVC fundamentals, and preparation for the mountain expedition.
Phase 2: The Mountain Expedition (4 days)
An immersive outdoor experience where participants practice teamwork and communication in real-life conditions.
Phase 3: Deep Dive into Practice (4 days)
Return to the Youth Center to reflect on learning outcomes and design and facilitate NVC-based learning processes.
The primary goal of this training is to empower youth workers with the tools of NonViolent Communication (NVC) through the lens of Outdoor Experiential Education. By the end of this journey, you will:
Master NVC Fundamentals: Develop core competences in the OFNR model (Observation, Feelings, Needs, Requests) specifically for youth work contexts.
Enhance Group Management: Use NVC as a practical tool for cooperation, conflict transformation, and team leadership.
Cultivate Deep Listening: Learn to "listen beyond words" using the 4 levels of listening and perspective-taking models.
Build Resilience: Strengthen your own emotional resilience and self-empathy through a mix of theoretical study and lived experience.
Empower Youth: Gain the skills to help young people develop authentic, assertive, and compassionate communication styles.
We are looking for motivated participants who are ready to step out of their comfort zones and engage deeply with both nature and their peers. Candidates should meet the following criteria:
Role: You are a youth worker, trainer, educator, coach, or volunteer.
Age: You are at least 21 years old.
Language: You possess good communication skills in English.
Outdoor Readiness: You are interested in spending time in nature and are physically ready for a 4-day self-sufficient mountain expedition.
Digital Detox: You are willing to spend 4 days in the mountains without digital technology.
Personal Mindset: You are motivated to develop authentic, assertive, and compassionate communication skills through the NVC model.
Policy Agreement: You agree to support and follow the project's sobriety policy (no alcohol or drugs) to ensure a safe and authentic learning environment.
