The day care center is located in Karlsruhe and welcomes children aged 1 to 6, regardless of nationality or social background. It operates in German and French. The volunteer supports educators with daily activities, including role-playing, sports and arts, helps in the kitchen, accompanies children on excursions and can develop a personal project based on crafts, games or other activities. The volunteer will also participate in intercultural events, some taking place during evenings or weekends, and will have opportunities to organize their own activities. Accommodation is provided in a shared house with other ESC volunteers, with a private bedroom and shared common areas. The volunteer receives approximately €500 per month for pocket money and food, plus a card for free public transport throughout Germany during the project.

• Support educators in their daily work with children aged 1–6.
• Take part in educational, creative and sports activities.
• Support excursions and everyday activities at the day care center.
• Develop a personal activity or project with the children, if desired.
• Participate in intercultural meetings and activities.
• Improve German through a 50-hour group language course.
• Participate in two two-week ESC seminars and exchange experiences with other international volunteers.
• Gain further experience through the optional pedagogical youth-leader course and summer camps.

• At least 18 years old.
• Interested in educational work and its different aspects.
• Interested in working with children aged 0–6.
• Some knowledge of English and, preferably, French.
• Basic German skills are helpful.
• Has an accredited sending organisation.
• Open to discovering Germany and German culture.
• Ready to live and participate in an international environment.
