This training course focuses on strengthening assertiveness in youth work as a key competence for effective communication, conflict management, and professional well-being.

Participants will explore how to confidently express needs, set healthy boundaries, and provide constructive feedback while maintaining empathy and mutual respect. The training combines coaching methods, embodiment practices, theatre and art-based tools, and experiential learning to support youth workers in developing a confident and assertive professional approach.

Methodology

The training is based on non-formal education and experiential learning principles. Participants will actively engage in a holistic learning process adapted to their needs and motivations.

Methods include:

•Coaching and reflection practices
•Embodiment and awareness exercises
•Art and theatre-based methods
•Experiential learning tools
•Practical group work and simulations
•The programme is divided into two parts:
•Knowledge and skill development on assertiveness
•Practical application through collaborative and community-focused activities

What participants will gain

Participants will:

•Improve assertive communication skills
•Learn to differentiate passive, aggressive, and assertive communication
•Practice giving and receiving constructive feedback
•Explore conflict resolution through assertiveness
•Increase self-confidence and resilience in youth work settings

The training aims to:

•Strengthen assertive communication skills in youth work
•Support youth workers in setting healthy boundaries and expressing needs clearly
•Develop constructive conflict management and feedback skills
•Enhance resilience and well-being of youth workers
•Empower participants to create inclusive, respectful, and empowering learning environments for young people
•Encourage participants to transfer and apply learning in their local contexts

We are looking for:

•Youth workers, trainers, facilitators, and youth leaders
•People actively working with young people
•Participants willing to apply learning in their daily practice
•Participants able to communicate in English
•Participants able to attend the full duration of the activity including online meeting
•Participants aged 18+
•Participants should be residents of: Greece, Lithuania, France, Germany, Latvia, Spain, Slovakia, Italy, Czechia, Slovenia.
