Week 1 – Ready, Set, Karibuni!

“Seeds know when to grow. We just have to give them the right soil.” 🌾

We started with an introduction to Wheeling2Help and Sana’s work across seed conservation, education, construction, and women’s empowerment. We’ve been on the move, met the team, and begun to understand how the different projects connect. We visited the seed conservation initiatives, storage, monitoring, and planting methods to preserve local biodiversity. We also explored the education programs, including scholarships, the daily porridge initiative, and kindergarten support, as well as community empowerment projects focused on women and agroforestry.

Along the way, we had the chance to meet the local people, get to know the village, and experience everyday life in the community. Swahili classes in between helped us connect more deeply, often breaking the ice and making us laugh along the way!

Still figuring things out, pole pole (slowly), but surely

It Takes A Village is a Humanitarian Aid volunteering project supported by the European Solidarity Corps and co-funded by the European Union.
